Ruby's story

Ruby began her career with us as a Graduate Trainee Accountant.

She joined Corrigan in July 2021 after graduating from the University of Southampton with a Business Management degree. Ruby passed her final exams at the end of 2023 and so will qualify as a Chartered Accountant later this year (2024).

“I knew I wanted a graduate role with a smaller company as this environment best fit my way of learning. The recruitment process was straightforward, and was more personal compared to other firms, which made me feel valued from the start. I had an initial, informal chat with a member of the team, allowing me to ask my own questions so that I could make an informed decision. The range of clients that Corrigan worked with interested me, and the city centre location was also appealing”.

“As soon as I started as a graduate trainee here at Corrigan, I felt like one of the team. Everyone was very welcoming, and the many socials aided my integration into the firm. There is a large peer group of apprentices and each of us have a training manager which made me feel very supported in the transition from university to a full-time role. Whilst combining full time work with study can be a tough balance, I know that I can rely on the support from my colleagues, and we are given paid time off to study which is a big help”.

“Over the past 3 years, I have found that I most enjoy getting to work with a vast range of clients as I now have an abundance of experience across many different sectors. I also enjoy the regular socials we have. I think that we are a very friendly and sociable team, and this reflects in our working environment”.
